Initial consultation
At your initial consultation, we will discuss your orthodontic needs and evaluate whether Invisalign® treatment is right for you. We will quickly scan your teeth with our iTero® Element scanner to capture an accurate 3D image. Then we will map out a precise treatment plan, including the exact movements of your teeth and how long your treatment will be. You’ll even get to see how your teeth will move and preview your new smile.
Treatment plan
After scanning your teeth, we will upload the images to the Invisalign® website to plan your treatment. Every two weeks, we will update your aligners to help move your teeth into position. We will check your progress during your in-office visit every six weeks.
After completing your Invisalign® treatment
You will receive a retainer to wear at night. Regularly wearing your retainer will help your teeth maintain their new positions and prevent them from moving back into their original placements. You will not have to wear a retainer forever after completing your Invisalign® treatment, but the length of time we recommend will vary from patient to patient.
Properly wearing your aligners
While invisible braces are removable, they must be worn for at least 22 hours a day for optimal results. You should remove clear aligners during meals and anytime you eat or drink anything other than cold water.
If worn properly, you’ll see improvements in your teeth within the first three months of wearing clear aligners. Most treatments last between 12 and 18 months. Once you’ve finished your Invisalign treatment, you’ll have post-treatment care to ensure your teeth remain in their desired position, which may require you or your child to wear a retainer for a few months.
